Jim Dowd is an American center on the Philadelphia Flyers.

Dowd grew up in New Jersey, winning a NJ State title and finishing his high school career with 375 points. The Devils drafted Dowd in 1987. After playing college hockey at Lake Superior State University, Dowd debuted with the Devils in 1991. He played limited amounts with the Devils over the next five seasons, winning the Stanley Cup in 1995. He was moved to the Hartford Whalers in 1996, but did not even remain a whole day with the Whalers before being traded to Vancouver. He was picked off waivers by the New York Islanders and then signed with the Calgary Flames in 1997. He was moved to Nashville in 1998, but did not play a single game before being moved to the Edmonton Oilers. Dowd was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the 2000 expansion draft. He spent four years with the Wild before being moved to Montreal in 2004.

After the lockout, Dowd signed with the Chicago Blackhawks, who traded him to the Colorado Avalanche. In 2006, Dowd was happily reunited with his hometown Devils. In 2007, he tried out for the Flyers. Dowd has proved to be a solid role player and talented face off man for Philly, helping them advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

In all, Jim Dowd has been a member of 12 different NHL teams, while playing for 10 of them.
