He was traded to Ottawa for the remainder of the 1998 season, and played there until 2001, when he was traded to Florida. Prospal signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning at the beginning of the 2001-02 season.

He spent the 2003-04 season with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, missing out on the Lightning's Stanley Cup Victory. He returned to Tampa Bay after the lockout. In 2005-06, Prospal posted career highs with 25 goals and 80 points, while skating with superstar Vincent Lecavalier. In 2008, Tampa Bay traded Prospal to the Flyers at the trade deadline as they prepped for their playoff run.
