Nicole Vaidisova is a female professional tennis player from Prague, Czech Republic. Born on April 23, 1989, she was introduced to tennis by her mother, Riana, when she was just 6 years old. She was formerly coached by her stepfather, Alex Kodat. Since April 2008, she has been coached by David Felgate.
Nicole broke into the ITF Circuit in 2003 and won ITF/Plzen-CZE which was her only event for the year. A year later, she had her first Top 100 finish. This year (2004) she became the sixth-youngest Tour singles titlist in history (she was 15 years, 3 months, and 23 days old then).
By 2005, she had a three-tournament win streak, plus a debut at Top 15 by the end of the season. She also won eighteen straight matches during the last four events of the year.
In 2006, Nicole highlighted her year with her first Grand Slam semi-finals appearance, and breaking through Top 10, plus her sixth career Tour singles title win. She is noted to be the sixth-youngest in Open Era to reach Roland Garros semi-finals. She had a series of wins for the rest of the year, however, she withdrew from Indian Wells and Miami due to right shoulder tendonitis.
Nicole is a right-handed player with a two-handed backhand. She has signed deals in 2007 with PlayPumps International and Citizen Eco-Drive. In addition, she is already a known member of Reebok's "I Am What I Am" ad campaign.
Throughout her career, she has garnered 6 ATP titles without any Grand Slams so far. She is currently ranked No. 19 in singles and No. 157 in doubles. However, she has been able to reach a career high rank of No. 7 on May 14, 2007.
