Patrick Thoresen is a Norwegian left winger on the Philadelphia Flyers.
Thoresen was signed by the Edmonton Oilers in 2006. He put up tremendous numbers in the QMJHL, scoring 33 goals and 75 assists in 2002-03. He played with Djurgarden of the Swedish Eliteserien, and put up solid numbers over three seasons before coming to try out with the Oilers. He was placed on waivers midway through the 2007-08 season, and was picked up by Philadelphia.
Thoresen was hospitalized after taking a slapshot to the groin in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. He did return to play before the Flyers were eliminated in the Conference Finals. He is the first Norwegian to play in the NHL postseason, and only the fifth Norwegian to play in the NHL at all.
