Sunday, July 27 2008 -- With all the moves that San Jose Sharks made during this offseason, anything less than a Conference Final finish should be considered a disappointment. The Sharks made moves that indicate impatience and a win-now attitude that may or may not pay off for the Sharks.
Star offensive defenseman Brian Campbell was allowed to walk, but the Sharks added solid veteran leadership and experienced talent on the blue line with the additions of Dan Boyle and Rob Blake. Adding Boyle and Brad Lukowich cost the Sharks another young defenseman in Matt Carle.
The Sharks were a top caliber team last year, and Campbell was supposed to be the piece of the puzzle that would get them over the hump and find success in the postseason. After losing to Dallas in the Conference semi-finals, San Jose retooled their defensive corps and added veterans that will bring a different look in front of star keeper Evgeny Nabokov.
