Real Madrid Toying With Amauri Move

Tuesday, April 8, 2008 -- Real Madrid are arguably the richest club in the world and they are flexing the money power already in the transfer even though the season is yet some time away from curtaining up. Los Merengues are reported by the Italian media to have tabled a £17 million bid for Brazilian star striker Amauri who is set to leave his current club Palermo at the end of the season.

Amauri might be 27 years of age but this season he has proved himself to be Brazilian through and through. He has scored goals right, left and centre and has also been a contributor to Palermo in other areas too. He was signed by the Sicilian club from Chievo Verona in the summer of 2006 and has since netted an amazing 22times in 34 Italian Serie A games.

Italian giants Juventus too are reported to have launched a bid for Amauri. But the Old Lady of Turin are not financially as fat along their waistline as Real Madrid are at the moment and can only pay £17 million for the player. Of course they are willing to le a couple of players to Palermo along with the cash but that would possibly not be enough. Amauri has already proclaimed his intension to move to a bigger club in the summer and no club comes bigger than Real Madrid.

As for Real Madrid, they d not exactly need another striker. Ruud van Nistelrooy would be fit again for next season and Raul too has groove into his old self. The likes of Robert Soldado and Javier Saviola have been used sparingly this season by coach Bernd Schuster and Argentine youngster Gonzalo Higuain too needs to be explored more. Buying Amuari would only add to Real's bench strength and do nothing more really.
