'Tuesday, July 15, 2008 -- There were two games in the WNBA on Tuesday.
The New York Liberty defeated the Connecticut Sun, 77-71.
The Sun have lost four games in a row, the Liberty have won two in a row.
Lisa Willis scored a career-high 18 points for the Liberty. Shameka Christon had 14 points, Cathrine Kraayeveld scored 11 and Janel McCarville,10.
For the Sun, Lindsay Whalen had 19 points, Jamie Carey had a career-high 18 (making six 3-pointers) and Asjha Jones put in 16.
The Phoenix Mercury lost again, this time to the San Antonio Silver Stars, 97-87. The Silver Stars bounced back from their loss to the Sparks yesterday.
Sophia Young was top scorer for the Stars with 26 points and eight rebounds. Becky Hammon put in 19 points.
For the Mercury, Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter each put in 23 points in a losing effort.
