Singapore One Step Closer to F-One

The Singapore Grand Prix lies just two months away and the anticipation is heavy with excitement as race organizers celebrate their latest accomplishment - the pit building.

Officially inaugurated today, the pit building is an extremely important milestone towards achieving completion before the start of Formula One's first-ever night race. The pit building comprises of a three storey structure built along the picturesque Marina promenade. The three stories will house a variety of important functionalities for the entire crew including the Formula One team garages all along the ground floor. These garages will accomodate all the teams and their vehicles & crews during the race weekend. The second and third floors of the building will feature all the race control facilities like lighting, race lights, and other general display lights; as well as the media centre, the winners' podium and a paddock club that would be large enough to accomodate upto 4,000 guests.

"Even before the launch of the Paddock Club packages, we have had huge interest from the who's who of the Formula One community," said Colin Syn, Deputy Chairman of the Singapore GP. "And it is great to have a purpose-built facility to deliver a world-class corporate hospitality that will enable guests to experience the excitement of the Singapore Grand Prix up-close and in-style."

The building's completion is a huge load of work off of the shoulders of the race organizers and that means that the next step would be the completion of the 350-metre long pit facility's interior. These facilities need to be up to FIA standards before they can be opened up to the Formula One teams for race use. The world will stand watching with bated breath as the first-ever night race lies just two months away.
