Sunday, June 29, 2008 -- Sunday night in the WNBA gave us three games.
The Phoenix Mercury (7-7) defeated the Connecticut Sun (12-5), 87-70.
Diana Taurasi annoyed the Sun (including her fellow UConn alumnus, Barbara Turner) and the referees, en route to the win. She put in 25 points. Tangela Smith added 21 points, and grabbed 11 rebounds.
For the Sun, Asjha Jones scored 16, and Lindsay Whalen had 14 points, eight assists and eight rebounds.
The Detroit Shock (12-5) bounced back from their Saturday defeat to keep the Atlanta Dream (0-15) winless, 100-92.
For the Shock, Kara Braxton scored a career-high 26 points, and pulled down nine rebounds. Katie Smith added 26 points and Deanna Nolan had 18 points and 11 assists.
For the Dream, Tamera Young scored a career-high 27 points, and Betty Lennox put in 22.
The Seattle Storm (9-7) rained all over the Washington Mystics (6-9), 64-49.
Sue Bird of the Storm had 14 points and seven assists. Lauren Jackson scored 13 points, Sheryl Swoopes 11, and Swin Cash 10.
For the Mystics, Monique Currie had a terrible shooting night, amassing only 4 points. The whole Mystics team had a terrible shooting night. Alana Beard scored 16 points, but was just was 6-for-17.
