The technical team of UEFA for Euro 2008 has come up with its Euro 2008 team of the competition. This is a 23-man team that the panel has chosen and doesn't include the best player on the planet at the moment Cristiano Ronaldo who rather had a pretty much disappointing competition with Portugal. This is the team that the UEFA panel has decided to go with:
Goalkeepers
Gianluigi Buffon (Italy)
Iker Casillas (Spain)
Edwin van der Sar (Netherlands)
Defenders
José Bosinga (Portugal)
Philipp Lahm (Germany)
Carlos Marchena (Spain)
Pepé (Portugal)
Carles Puyol (Spain)
Yury Zhirkov (Russia)
Midfielders
Hamit Altintop (Turkey)
Luka Modrić (Croatia)
Marcos Senna (Spain)
Xavi Hernández (Spain)
Konstantin Zyryanov (Russia)
Midfielders – Middle-to-Front
Michael Ballack (Germany)
Cesc Fàbregas (Spain)
Andrés Iniesta (Spain)
Lukas Podolski (Germany)
Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands)
Attackers
Andrey Arshavin (Russia)
Roman Pavlyuchenko (Russia)
Fernando Torres (Spain)
David Villa (Spain)
In addition to that, Spain's midfielder Xavi Herandez has been named as the Castrol Player of the Tournament. Xavi started the tournament slowly but soon gathered momentum and was tremendous for Spain in the semi-final against Russia and in the final against Germany.
