Pole-man Casey Stoner, led the warm up session at the Dutch track, and made his intentions of keeping the lead very clear with two late fast laps. The best time for the Australian was 1'47.583, which was three tenths of a second faster than Nicky Hayden, who was second placed and is the 2006 race winner. Joining the Repsol Honda and Ducati duo, was Valentino Rossi, a front row starter who has been trying hard to match Stoner's rhythm. Completing the top six were 250cc Assen race winner Jorge Lorenzo, 2007 wet weather pole-man, Chris Vermeulen and Daniel Pedrosa. Another significant rider, who seemed stronger in the wet was Marco Melandri, who is the rider for Ducati Marlboro. He finished the warmup session with the seventh fastest time.
