In an announcement made by the FIM, at the A-Style TT Assen, last Friday, it was revealed that the Grand Prix Commission plans to introduce changes to the existing FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations.
The Grand Prix Commission consisting of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna. Chairman, Herve Poncharal, IRTA, Takanao Tsubouchi, MSMA and Claude Danis, FIM, as well as Mr. Paul Butler, who was the secretary of the meeting, decided to replace the 250cc class, effective from 1st January 2011, with 4-stroke engines of 600cc maximum.
Following this decision a request will be sent to all manufacturers and the candidatures of the manufacturers interested in taking part in this new class, must be sent to FIM and Dorna latest by 31st of July, 2008. The technical regulations specified for this class include, 2.11.2 Unleaded petrol will be required have sulphur (mk/kg) 10, instead of 50. This technical regulation is enforceable from 1st January 2009.
