Premiership side Liverpool are said to be eager to land up the England international winger Stewart Downing from fellow Premier League side Middlesbrough.
According to the British tabloid The Sun, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is quite intent on adding the Middlesbrough midfielder Downing to his side as the pre-season traning dawns near. Downing has been one of the best Middlesbrough players in years and has also got a very good left foot that Rafa is eager to develop even further at Anfield.
But money appears to be the problem for Rafael Benitez. You see, Downing is tied to 'Boro until the summer of 2013 and so would come only at a price of 10 million pounds or in excess, an amount that Liverpool might have to struggle to claw out of their bank.
