Marcelon Lippi's taking over of the Italian national team coach's role would be his second spell in charge of the Azzurri, a sort of Second Coming for the 2006 Germany World Cup winning coach )with Italy) and the man himself has been quite buoyant about his return to the national team set-up.
Lippi became a national icon when he guided Italy to the 2006 World Cup triumph in Germany amidst the tiring situation of the Calciopoli farce. He resigned right after the competition ended and Roberto Donadoni was appointed in his place.
But Donadoni has been disastrious in his role and the entire national cried for his sacking in the aftermath of the Italian defeat to Spain in the last 8 of Euro 2008. Lippi was called back and his first few words were:
"I am very, very happy. And very motivated. See you next week."
By next week, Lippi implies Tuesday when he shall officially be unveiled as the new Italian national team coach, when the new Azzurri era will officially dawn.
