Late night games in the WNBA

'Thursday, June 26, 2008 -- In the late games, the Houston Comets defeated the San Antonio Silver Stars 77-71, for the second time this week.

Sancho Lyttle, starting for the injured Tina Thompson, scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Houston Comets. (Thompson, the Comets' leading scorer and rebounder, had injured her ring finger in win over San Antonio two days earlier.)

Center Michelle Snow added 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Comets.

For the Silver Stars, Sophia Young was the high scorer.

The Phoenix Mercury pulled out another win, defeating the Chicago Sky 89-79.

Six Mercury players scored in double players, including Kelly Miller, who scored 17, Tangela Smith with 16, and Diana Taurasi with 16.

For the Sky, Chasity Melvin had 19 points, Jia Perkins, 18 and Candice Dupree 11.

And in the final game of the night, the Los Angeles Sparks defeated the Washington Mystics.

The Mystics put up a fight, coming back from a 14-point deficit in the third quarter, to eventually tie the game at 74 in the closing seconds of the 4th to send the game into overtime. Only 3 points were scored in the overtime...by the Mystics.

Candace Parker scored 17 points for the Sparks, Lisa Leslie had 16, in the losing effort.
