The Baltimore-based performance Apparel Company, Under Armour Inc. awarded its first sponsorship of a NASCAR racing vehicle this weekend, marking its entry into the NASCAR arena.
NASCAR driver Carl Edwards will sport the company logo on his No. 60 car at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Also appearing on the car alongside the Under Armour Inc. logo will be that of Boston Red Sox, a corporate partner of the performance apparel company.
This fact has also enabled Under Armour Inc. to team up with Roush Fenway Racing, which is partially owned by John W. Henry, Red Sox owner, on their NASCAR sponsorship. Carl Edwards is a Roush Fenway Racing driver, and is also an endorser for Under Armour, featuring in a 60 second Super Bowl ad, last February.
The financial terms involved in Under Armour's sponsorship were not released. Another Red Sox sponsor, AAA Southern New England is also partnering with the team to sponsor driver David Ragan's No. 6, Ford Fusion car.
