Thursday, June 26, 2008 -- The 2009 schedule for Formula One does not have a spot for a race anywhere in the United States, not even at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Featuring in the Formula One schedule for 8 consecutive years now, from 2000 till 2007, Indy was left out after lack of USGP at IMS this year. Moreover Speedway officials have been unable to secure a financial and promotional package, which includes a title sponsor for the future.
Speedway President, Joie Chitwood said on Wednesday, "I still think there's a home for F-1 in the U.S., but it's getting the right partner to activate and promote it, which is a vital component".
Not ruling out inclusion in the next year's F-1 schedule, which will not be confirmed till the fall, he remarked that it gets "Tougher and tougher every day" to make it happen. "here continues to be dialogue", he remarked, "he door remains open for the future".
