There has been stark and some would say ridiculous development in the Manchester United-Cristiano Ronaldo-Real Madrid tug-of-war. Catalan daily Sport has made the subtle revelation that Real Madrid's debt of 400 million euros coupled with the asking price of 90 million euros for the 23-year old Portuguese winger would almost certainly force Real president Ramon Calderon to sell no fewer than 6 top draw players from the current Real Madrid set-up.
But who are those six players? One of them is certainly Robinho, whose late drinking parties have not gone at all well with the Real Madrid board and in the wake of his recent outburst, the Brazilian international playmaker would be booted out if that contributes to importing Cristiano Ronaldo to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The other player supposedly involved in the equation is the 24-year old Dutch international playmaker Wesley Sneijder who was arguably the best outfield player for the Merengues in the 2007-2008 season. He was signed from Dutch giants AFC Ajax Amsterdam last summer but he could be sold at a very high price since he performed exceptionally well for the Netherlands at Euro 2008 this summer,
Four home grown players would also have to be ofloaded, if Sport is to be believed. Esteban Granero, Rubén De la Red, Álvaro Negredo and Javi García too have to sold for a considerable sum.
Seems like there is too much ado about Ronaldo!
