In the final game of the Tri Series played between Pakistan and India in Dhaka, the Pakistani team was successful to achieve a well deserved victory over India.
Pakistan was put to bat first and went on to score a stunning 316 runs at the end of 50 overs. This score was raised with major contributions from Salman Butt and Younis Khan who were involved in a 205 run parternership. Younis scored 108 off 99 deliveries, while Butt took his time to settle down, but made the innings count by scoring 129 runs.
The Indian squad started off well with the bat. Gautam Gambhir got a rollicking 40, Yuvraj Singh 56, Suresh Raina 24 and Irfan Pathan 28. They all promised a lot, as did Rohit Sharma (24), Yusuf Pathan (25) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (64), but still all their combined efforts fell short in front of Pakistan's will to win.
The combination of a fine spell by Umar Gul (4 for 57), the lack of big runs and partnerships left India all out at a score of 290 runs after 48.2 overs. Despite several batsmen getting off to good starts, at the end of the evening, they were left 25 runs too short, chasing 316 runs to win the tri-series.
