The Pittsburgh Penguins ensured that Marc Andre Fleury will remain in black and gold for the the 2008-09 season by filing for an arbitration hearing on Friday. Fleury was scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July 1, but the filing allows Fleury and the Penguins more time to come to an agreeable contract.

Fleury has 76 wins and a 2.95 GAA in Pittsburgh, since being drafted first overall in 2003. Fleury helped lead the Penguins to the Stanley Cup Finals, the first time Pittsburgh had been to the Finals since 1992. Pittsburgh would probably like to sign Fleury to a long-term contract, as he has proven himself to be a reliable starting goaltender capable of performing under pressure and producing solid results.
