Liverpool star striker Fernando Torres has made it clear that he wants to stay on at Anfield for one more season at least. In the wake of the summer trasfer opening last month, there has been loads of speculation on the player leaving the Merseyside club as the two cowboys, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, struggle to manage the traditional English giants.
Fernando Torres is said to be at the top of the Chelsea wish-list and he also fosters a latent desire to play for AC Milan some day. But the 23-year old Spanish international striker, who scored 33 goals in all competitions in his first season in England after being signed by Spanish giants Atletico Madrid last summer for a whooping 21 million pounds, confirms that he is staying at Anfield.
Torres says:
"I have no intention of leaving.
"We have to focus our energies to give the little step we need to get to the top teams.
"If we only improve the team a little, we are going to manage to do so.
"I want to say very clearly that I'm not on the market and it is my desire to continue at Liverpool."
This must certainly be good news for Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez who wants to sign more players to launch a serios bid for the Premiership title next season.
