Celtics one win away from the NBA title

Friday, June 13 2008 -- The Boston Celtics rallied from a 24-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 97-91 on Thursday night 12th June 2008 to take a commanding 3-1 lead in this historical series and moved one game close to achieving the 17th championship that seemed impossible a year ago.

Now it's all down to the one game for the Celtics to achieve the most precious title in NBA history. During the first quarter of the match the Celtics were down to the Lakers by 15 points.

"We sucked it up, we said we weren't going to back down." Pierce said. But at the end of the third quarter Pierce looked up at the scoreboard and said to his fellow mates "We just have to go out there and compete and let the chips fall where they may."

Pierce scored 20 points, Kevin Garnett had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Ray Allen had 19 points. The Celtics Big three as they are known were more than amazed and satisfied by their performance that night. It took an epic comeback to do it, and now the Celtics can reclaim their place atop pro basketball with a win in Game 5 on Sunday night 15th June 2008 in Los Angeles.

No team has ever recovered from a 3-1 deficit in the finals.
