Wednesday, June 4 2008 -- The Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team had a perfect race weekend as their two riders, James Stewart and Timmy Ferry, claimed the top two spots on the 40th Anniversary of the Hangtown Classic in Sacramento, California. As if that wasnt enough, their third rider, Ryan Villopoto claimed the overall win in the lites segment.
This was James Stewart's second straight AMA Toyota Motocross Championship's overall win by, once again, winning both the motos. Ferry finished two and two on the day, making the overall second spot his own.
Then came Villopoto's chance to prove his metal. The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider also stood on the top step of the podium twice during the event. Villopoto swept the motocross' lites motos to claim his first overall win of the season. Austin Stroupe finished at 3 & 4 in the motos for an overall fourth placed finish, just ahead of his teammate Brett Metcalfe, who finished at 4 & 5 to claim fifth overall. Branden Jesseman finished 6th & 12th to get an eighth overall standing.
The wonderful string of results placed all four of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki riders in the top 10.
