Saturday, May 31 2008 -- Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is hell bent on adding more depth and reinforcements to his team this summer to launch a concrete challenge for the Premiership title. And he has apparently identified Franck Ribery as his main target this summer.
It's reported in the British press that Liverpool want to sign the French international right sided midfielder from his club Bayern Munich this summer and are eager to pay as much as 20 million euros for the player. Ribery was signed by Bayern from Marseille last summer for 17 million euros and has been arguably the best player for Bayern in the 2007-2008 season after striker Luca Toni.
Franck Ribery is one of the most feared players in the world and although he is 25 years of age, he has arched through a plethora of clubs. Liverpool gaffer Benitez wants to sign fresh and new faces in the summer and has been promised the cash by the club.
But it remains a doubt on whether Bayern would be willing to sell the signing of the season for 2007-2008. Ribery is quite happy at the Allianz Arena and Benitez would have to be very pesuasive indeed to lure Ribery to Anfield.
