Wednesday, May 28 2008 -- The buzz around Joba Chamberlain and his imminent appearance in the Yankees' starting rotation only got louder when Ian Kennedy was placed on the 15 day DL after the Yanks' loss on Tuesday night. Kennedy's injury would put Joba into the schedule earlier than originally planned.
Chamberlain pitched a career high 40 pitches on Saturday in a relief appearance. He is hoping to get up around 55 in his next appearance. Manager Joe Girardi had indicated that another relief appearance where Joba could pitch around 75 pitches would be most desirable, but it doesn't look like time will allow that to be a feasible possibility.
