Yuvraj might miss first ODI at Rajkot

Monday, December 14, 2009 -- Indian blaster Yuvraj Singh might miss the first one-day against Sri Lanka at Rajkot as part of the ongoing series. Yuvraj complained about hurting his finger at the 2nd Twenty20 match at Mohali on Saturday, 12th December, 2009. He would be analyzed by his medicos and a final decision on the matter is yet pending.

"The team management will give every possible opportunity to Yuvraj play the first ODI but the final call would be taken only tomorrow," a source close to the team reported on 13th December, 2009. The source also added that Yuvraj might require 3 weeks to get back into shape. If that is to be true, the blaster will miss out on all 5 one-days of the series.

Yuvraj suffered from the injury in the first innings of the Twenty20 match and he could not finish his full quota of overs, but fortunately for the Men in Blue, Yuvraj smashed 60 from 25 balls to secure an easy win for the team. However, on Sunday evening, 13th December, 2009, Yuvraj had to be taken to Dr. Dinkar Virparia after showing signs of pain in his little finger. He was also taken to the Rajkot Imaging Center and an X-Ray of his little finger was taken.

The President of the Saurashtra Cricket Association reported to the media that a final decision will be taken after careful examination of the reports. The team arrived at Rajkot on Sunday via a chartered plane to take part in the first of the five one-day matches against Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli is a possible replacement for Yuvraj, should he be forced to sit out for the matches.
