Nets Struggles Hard to Predict

At the beginning of the season, I looked over the Nets lineup and saw many talented players. After a solid season in 2009, the Nets were not far off from a playoff berth. Point guard sensation Devin Harris took his game to another level, and made an all star team for the first time in his career.

But after a brutal start to this season, the Nets have no one to blame for themselves. I am not a believer of blaming a team's misfortunes on a coach, it is the players who play the game. However, Lawrence Frank was shown the door after failing to win a game for weeks, and setting the record for worst start in NBA history at 1-18.

The start is puzzling because after trading Vince Carter to Orlando for Courtney Lee, and Rafer Alston, the Nets seemed to better themselves. Along with Devin Harris, Yi, Chris Douglas-Roberts, and 2009 rookie standout Brook Lopez, the Nets had amassed a solid group of talented young players.

Maybe they just have not gelled into a cohesive unit yet, but they need to start now. Fortunately, they have a rich billionaire owner, and the selling point of playing in Brooklynn, NY in the near future. It will be an attractive place for free agents to want to sign. The only other bright spot for the Nets is knowing they will most likely have the best shot at the No.1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
