Tuesday, May 27, 2008 -- Premiership side Chelsea are set to undergo a major revamp this summer with club owner Roman Abramovich looking to draft in several new big name faces(and a manager of course). And if you are to trust the rumour mill, then the Russian oligarch is actually looking towards Italy for what would be the signing of the century.
Abramovich is reportedly keen on importing the Brazilian ace Kaka from AC Milan this summer and is ready to splash out as much cash as Milan want for their most prized and valuable asset. Moreover he is also said to be ready to gift want-away striker Didier Drogba and Portuguese international defender Ricardo Carvalho to Milan along with the cash for Kaka.
Kaka is arguably the best midfielder in the world and Milan are not a selling club. Real Madrid are already in the hunt for the star player and now Chelsea have joined in the chase as well.
Although it is quite improbable that Kaka would be seduced to barter Milan for London, Chelsea can imbibe some optimism from history. In the summer of 2006 against all the odds Roman Abramovich was able to airlift the Ukrainian international striker Andriy Shevchenko from Milan for a whooping sum of 30 million euros.
