Cavs Offense Needs Considerable Work

After watching the Cavaliers first couple of games in this new season, it is apparent their offense not only needs new plays, but new players. There is way too much individual play and not enough movement and passing.

In the playoffs last year, too much of the Cavs' offense centered around LeBron James having the ball at the top of the three point line, and having him drive the lane. There was no movement, and no passing.

The addition of Shaquille O'Neal was supposed to give Cleveland a low-ost presence it lacked last year. After a few games, we can clearly see Shaq is a highly ineffective player when shooting beyond 3 feet from the basket.

Against the Celtics on opneing night, Shaq hit his first four shots, but then missed almost all of the rest when Kendrick Perkins pushed him farther away from the basket.

A pressing need for the Cavs is someone other than LeBron James that can create his own shot. It is easy to help double Shaq or LeBron when there is no one in the corner who can shoot well consistently.

Cleveland needs to trade or sign a versatile shooter. Someone who can cause mismathces for defenses. This can be best exampled by Orlando's Rashard Lewis.

Lewis was a nightmare for Boston and Cleveland in last year's playoffs. He was too quick for power forwards, and could shoot over small forwards easily.

Anthony Parker can be that player, but he does not have the same offensive game or respect that Rashard Lewis has.

If Cleveland continues to have the same problems on offense every year, LeBorn will not want to return for 2011.
