Sunday, May 25 2008 -- That's the big question with the retirement of Brett Favre; which guy will start for the Green Bay Packers at quarterback? Will it be Aaron Rodgers, Brian Brohm or Matt Flynn? Whichever player is over center, it will be the first time he's ever started a NFL game. And that fact certainly has more than a few folks in Green Bay concerned.
Although Rodgers has been in the league for three years, he served as Favre's back up and never got the chance to start. Brohm and Flynn are both rookies. It's odd enough that they might be backing up Rodgers. Usually a club has at least one back up with starting experience. But add to that the fact that not one of the Packer quarterbacks has ever started a game and the leadership picture turns frightening. Especially when you consider what a strong leader the team lost when Favre decided to retire.
Rodgers looks like the starter. In three seasons, he's played in seven games, throwing 35 completions, one touchdown pass and one interception. He's completed 59.3% of his throws and has a rating of 73.3.
Things are pretty frantic at Green Bay. Even though it's just spring, the first game of the season isn't that far away. Look for there to be a lot of growing pains "both physical and psychological" at Lambeau Field this season.
