Michael Chang was currently chosen to the 2008 Hall of Fame Induction. Chang is one of the few American men to earn the French Open singles title in the Open Era. He started gaining international recognition since 1989 when he won the singles title. Together with Chang, Mark McCormack and Gene Scott were elected as well. The International Hall of Fame has now honoured 207 people from 18 different countries.

Active players competing in the sport within the past 20 years are qualified in the International Hall of Fame. At least a favourable 75% vote is required for a player to be inducted.

The induction ceremony will be on July 12 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum in Newport, Rhode Island. It is run by a non-profit organization created to preserve the heritage and history of tennis as a sport. It successfully inspired junior and amateur tennis players, acknowledged the heroes and heroines of the sport, and united all tennis enthusiasts all over the world. The International Tennis Hall of Fame was established in 1954 and was officially recognized in 1986 as the official Hall of Fame by the International Tennis Federation, which served as the governing body.
