Recently, Ana Ivanovic confirms her participation in the International Women's Open competition in Eastbourne. The 20-year old Serbian pride is determined to top the race on her first appearance on June 16 and 21 at Devonshire Park, England.
In one of Ivanovic's interviews, she expressed, "Eastbourne is great preparation for Wimbledon."
The Eastbourne tournament is scheduled a week before Wimbledon. Tough matches are set at Eastbourne where former Wimbledon champions, namely, Amelie Mauresmo and Lindsay Davenport made her more excited.
Ivanovic enjoys the play at the grass. She added, "it's a good event to start my grass court season." Moreover, co-players commented that facilities at Eastbourne are great. The Eastbourne tournament is well-known for its seaside setting, having seagulls flying over the center of the court and definitely, its superb grass quality.
Three years ago, Ivanovic was scheduled to play in Eastbourne but because of unexpected circumstance that she got injured, she was forced to withdraw.
The International Women's Open Tournament Director, Gavin Fletcher is pleased to have Ivanovic in the race. In a recent interview, Fletcher said that Ana is a world class player who is also a fantastic grass court pedigree.
When on the field, Ivanovic is a darling of the crowd to wherever she competes. Thus, to have her in Eastbourne this summer will surely rock the interests and pleasure of the fans.
