The teams participating in this sport aim for two types of championship- the driver's championship and the constructor's championship. Most of the teams that take part in F1 are auto manufacturers like Ferrari, Mercedes, and Renault etc. These teams are also co-partnered by other large business houses like Vodafone, ING insurance etc. Each team is allowed to have two cars. The races take place on specially- constructed tracks or on closed streets. The driver as well as the team is awarded with points based on the position obtained by them in the races. At the end of the season, the team and the driver with the highest points are crowned as world champions.

Like Formula 1, the drivers and the teams fight separately for the championship. The difference between Formula 1 and WRC is that there are no separate tracks in the case of latter. Similarly, the cars are not specifically built for racing purpose. The cars driven in this kind of motorsport are ordinary cars that are tweaked for making them rally-fit.

Grand Prix motorcycle racing: This form of motorsport involves the use of motorcycles or bikes. The participating motorbikes are categorized according to their engine capacity. Currently, there exist categories for 50 cc, 80 cc, 125 cc, 250 cc, and the 500 cc which is also referred to as MotoGP. The race takes place on specifically built tracks.
