Friday, September 4, 2009 -- The semi-finals for the 12-side BCCI’s Corporate Championship have been decided. Air India Blue, ONGC, Tata Sports Club and Air India Red have entered the semi-finals.
Air India Red will take on ONGC in the first semis at Bangalore, while Air India Blue will play Tata Sports Club in the second semi-finals.
Rains have hampered the tournament throughout the three days it has been played so far and this has meant that the teams haven’t been in action as much as they would have liked. Rahul Dravid’s return to international cricket later this month will be bolstered by his twin half centuries, but he could not help his team India Cements, in getting to the semi-finals. India Cements is incidentally also the group that owns the Chennai Super Kings side.
India Cements’ S.Badrinath has had two 90s to his name as well, and leads the current list of top run-getters. Dravid has two sixties, while in the only innings M.S.Dhoni batted, he smashed a 61-ball 106.
Yuvraj has batted in only one innings as well, and scored only 39.
Amongst bowlers, Avishkar Salvi has three wickets from two games, but the rather unknown P.K.Dharma has scalped eight wickets from two games.
The semi-finals will be played on 5th and 6th of September, with the finals on the eighth.
