One of SA’s most valuable sport stars

In the early period of Graeme Smith’s career, he startled the cricketing media by making history as the- then youngest South African captain, 2003. He bravely took the reigns and over the years has taken SA status to the top. He is now in his prime as a well seasoned player and leader.

Graeme Smith hails from the city of gold, Johannesburg. He started his career playing at School and for the U19 SA national cricket team scoring some impressive half-centuries in the tests and one-day matches. He won the SA cricketer of the year award in the 2001/02 season. Smith also captained and took the Somerset English county side to victory in the 2005 season. In 2008, Smith participated in the inaugural Indian Premiership League for the Rajasthan Royals. Here, he once again showed the world why, he is considered one of the top batsmen in the world with his on form opening spectacle with team mate Swapnil Asnodkar.

Under the strategic and skilful captaincy of Graeme Smith, SA is currently the best one day side and the 2nd best test side. Then, there’s no surprise that, Graeme Smith is my favourite player.
