Real Madrid have signed the Racing Santander defender Ezequiel Garay for a potential 11 million euro transfer fee. The agreement has already been settled between the two clubs.

Garay is a 21-year old Argentine international central defender who was always on the way out of Racing at the end of the season. For many, Gara has been the best centre-back in the whole of Spain this season and a host of clubs including Madrid's archrivals FC Barcelona were in the hunt for his signature.

But it is Real Madrid who have ultimately conducted the final negotiations. The player will be signed in the next few days according to the Madrid based sports daily Marca for 10 million euros on a six-year deal. The transfer amount could get hiked to 11 million depending on the number of appearances made by the player.

This implies that the player shall be the first Real Madrid signing this summer. Many more are set to follow him to the Bernabeu this season.
