India had crashed out of the tournament before getting to the semi-finals and had no stand-out performances in the World T20.

Younus Khan, the skipper of the winning team, Pakistan, has also been named the captain of the world T20 side, with Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul been in the squad as well. Wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal completes the list.

Sri Lanka has representations from the two bowlers, Lasith Malinga and Ajantha Mendis, along with the tournament’s highest scorer by a mile, T.Dilshan. Dilshan scored more than 300 runs in the tournament, but was dismissed for a duck in the all-important finals that saw the Sri Lankan top-order cave in to the Pakistani attack.
South Africa were the beaten semi-finalists at the hands of Pakistan, but impressed with their youngster, Wayne Parnell. Parnell’s ability to bowl those yorkers at crucial stages impressed everyone and so did his ability to remain calm under pressure. Apart from Parnell, there is A.B. de Villiers and all-rounder Jacques Kallis who make up the squad.

Chris Gayle’s couple of fifties, and Dwayne Bravo’s all-round effort see them in the team as well. Gayle’s power-hitting had managed to send the Aussies packing, while Bravo had played a huge role in India’s defeat in the Super Eights.
