Akram’s opinion

As the World Cup progressed, he became acquainted with the top women in World Cricket and their world rankings. He commented that the level of their talent, the level of their fielding and the level of their cricket ability has impressed him. The batsmen have got each shot. The fielding by the cricketers of Australia, New Zealand and England was mind-blowing. He accepted that he was thoroughly amazed. Prior to the 2009 Women’s Cricket World Cup, Akram had viewed only one hour of women’s cricket in 1993. It is not surprising that in less than a fortnight, he became a big fan and an unofficial ambassador of women’s cricket.

Support for women’s cricket

Akram has selected some players to be his favorites. These are Holly Colvin, Laura Marsh, Claire Taylor, Suzie Bates, Mithali Raj and Karen Rolton. After observing Rolton’s game for some overs, he said that Rolton can play shots all around the wicket. As he developed a good impression regarding women’s cricket, he revealed that he had become keen to spread the word among the male players that the standard of women’s cricket is really worthwhile. Akram has acceded to support women’s cricket. His opinion is that women’s cricket has a definite future.
