There are reports circulating in the British press that Premiership outfits Chelsea are planning to launch a 80 million euro bid for FC Barcelona's wonder kid Lionel Messi!

FC Barcelona are set to undergo a major revamp and so are Chelsea. Lionel Messi has persistently insisted that he is happy at Camp Nou and was quoted as saying before the weekend that he is certain to linger on at Barcelona.

But Chelsea owner Roman Avramovich is eager to rejuvenate his squad and make it more attractive to watch. That is why the Russian oligarch requires Lionel Messi in his team to play outlandishly exciting football.

A source at Chelsea was quoted as saying to The Sun:

"Roman is convinced Messi could change the whole face of Chelsea and is willing to spend what it takes to get him.

"He has always wanted that type of player. Under Jose Mourinho he accepted the football because it was bringing in the trophies but he got bored. Grant wants to change things but has explained it takes time and a lot of money to alter the style.

"Now is the time for Roman to finance that change. Chelsea are attractive because of the wages on offer and they are in the Champions League Final."

It's true that Chelsea are set to alter their squad in the summer but maybe they haven't taken in consideration that Barcelona are a bigger club than them and that Messi loved Barcelona.
