A Wimbledon finalist in 2002, and a semifinalist during the 2004 and 2006 French Open, Nalbandian may miss the French Open which begins on May 24, the Wimbledon which opens on June 22 and the Argentina’s Davis Cup quarterfinal which will be held in Czech Republic in July 10-12.

In the Argentine TV TyC Sports, Nalbandian said that currently his right hip is giving him much difficulty and the pain is getting worst each day. He is now pressured to make a decision of going through a surgery at the end of the week and is expected to take up to four to six months to recover. But in the Argentine newspaper last Tuesday, Clarin reported that Nalbandian has already decided to undergo the surgery and is expected to schedule it on May 13 in Barcelona.
During the Estoril Open in Portugal, Nalbandian ranked No. 19, lost 6-2, 6-2 against Paul Capdeville who comes from Chile.

During the Davis Cup final last year, Argentina lost to Spain and was among the favorites to reach the final again with a team headed by No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro.
