Monday, April 20, 2009 -- Last Sunday, the annual tennis tournament for male professionals in Monte Carlo has been joined again by Tommy Robredo of Spain and Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland, which both went up to the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters in straight sets.
Tommy Robredo, who is now eleventh-seeded won against the German tennis player Rainer Schuettler in 6-1, 6-4. Schuettler won only 16 points in the first set and did not make his serves effective enough for five times and Robredo will play with either Juan Monaco or Jeremy Chardy in next round.
While Wawrinka defeated the Serbian Viktor Troicki in 6-2,6-3, and is now 13th seeded and will be competing either Igor Andreev or Martin Vassallo Arguello for the next round.
German Philipp Kohlschreiber and Italian Simone Bolelli also won. Beating Ernests Gulbis of Latvia with 6-1,6-3 match,Kohlschreiber is going to compete with seventh-seeded Fernando Verdasco from Spain. He said that it is a very good start of the season and he played a good match. While Bolelli ended the match with Robin Soderling of Sweden with an ace and will be competing with either ninth-seeded French Gael Monfils or Serbian Janko Tipsarevic.
Rafael Nadal, the Spanish tennis player who has been grabbing the Title of Monte Carlo since 2005 will either be facing Igor Kunitsyn or Russia or Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina.
The top 10 players of the world are joining the competition this year except Andy Roddick who is in the no.6 and Federer also accepted a last-minute wild card invitation last Thursday.
