Saturday, April 18, 2009 -- Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has said that he believes that his club are already among the elite in Spain.
Sevilla are currently third in La Liga and is set to return to the UEFA Champions League next season. They haven't finished lower than sixth in any of their past five campaigns and won the UEFA Cup twice in a row in 2006 and 2007.
Club president Jose Maria del Nido believes that they should be counted as one of the elite. He told the club's offcial website:
“When an organisation is growing, the demands also multiply. But this project was constructed from the foundation. We always understood that Sevilla had to be run like a company and because of that, we can endure the waves between success and failure.
“We worked hard to build this institution and now we can enjoy the glory. Football is always in the present while growth is the future.
“This season is an example where Sevilla continue to cement their status amongst the elite. People are always saying we’re about to reach the ‘Pirineos’ [Pyrenees], but for us, there’s no such thing. We are already part of it."
