Friday, March 27, 2009 -- As the New Jersey Nets were defeated by Cleveland Cavaliers on 25th March 2009 by 98-87, the team has moved 3.5 games behind Chicago to attain a final Eastern Conference playoff spot. In the past 10 games, the Nets have been defeated 7 times. This indicates that their play has been very shaky when it matters the most.
How the Cavs won?
The Nets were playing in the absence of Devin Harris, the All Star point guard, who was suffering from a shoulder injury. In spite of this loss, the Nets tried their best to win against the Cavaliers, who is a team with the league’s best record. When there were almost 4 minutes balance in the game, the Nets had a 82-81 lead. At this juncture, Delonte West, the Cavaliers guard, displayed a 3-pointer. Further, Anderson Varejao, the Cavaliers forward, scored on a layup. Then, LeBron James knocked down a couple of free throws. When there were 2 minutes remaining in the game, the Cavaliers were leading by 88-82.Upcoming games
Currently, the Nets are finding the road to the playoffs very difficult. It seems that the team is in need of vast good fortune. Lawrence Frank, the Nets coach, remarked that the team has to find a way to be victorious in those games that they are not supposed to win. On Friday, the Nets host the Los Angeles Lakers and this would be their first assignment. Further, they would host Charlotte, Orlando, Philadelphia and Detroit and visit Boston, Chicago and Detroit. It is expected that all these teams would vie for playoff positioning till the last day of the regular season.Rate this article
