Wednesday, March 11, 2009 -- The Utah Jazz have been injury struck all season, struggling to get through their games and lumbering along towards post season. However, things have changed and suddenly, the team is healthy, on form and hungry for wins with 12 straight wins in a row. Their 12 came over Indiana on Tuesday with a 112-100 scoreline.
The Western conference has suddenly come alive with a flurry of activity and a lot of frowned brows as the Jazz have moved up from a lowly 9th to a respectable 4th. They are just a half-game behind the Houston Rockets and lead the Portland Trail Blazers by the same margin.
The team is still 3 wins away from their franchise record of 15 wins in a row set by the John Stockton - Karl Malone lineup in 1996-97. The team got to the 15 game mark not once, but twice in the same season. Coach Jerry Sloan insisted that the Jazz will be taking it game-by-game as he understands that the next three games are not the easiest they could have. The Jazz will be up against the Atlanta Hawks, the Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic and will need something real special to match the record.
"We have confidence that we're going to win every game we play, no matter what the scenario might be," said Carlos Boozer, who finished with 11 points and seven rebounds in a starting role.
