Valencia Sporting Director On Valencia Future

Friday, April 25 2008 -- After the mass clearout at Valencia earlier this week, there has been a new air heaved into the Mestalla and more changes are anticipated to be wrung at the end of the season.

But what exactly will be those changes? Let's get an idea from the Valencia sporting director Juan Sánchez who was appointed so only this Monday but has already assumed as one of the most important positions in the Los Che board.

First he speaks on the possible coaches who could be drafted into the Mestalla in the summer and underlines the Racing Santander and Almeria coaches Marcelino and Unai Emery respectively as potential targets:

"Marcelino and Emery are great coaches and it is fair to say that they fit the profile we want, yes. But no, there is nothing signed. There are talks, but we are not close to agreeing anything with anyone. We have a clear profile of the person that we want though.

"When Valencia have won titles in the past it has been with methodical coaches, team psychologists and a lot of tactical work."

He then speaks on the club captain David Albelda and coneys his emotions on the chopping of the heads of Albelda, Santiago Canizares and Miguel Algel Angulo:

"We have a great relationship it is true. What happened in December to three of them surprised me a lot because they are great professionals and I know that what happened badly affected them.

"In Albelda's case, it was really shocking. He is such an important player, who grew up here and has won everything with the club. He deserves to leave in a dignified manner."

And now to the most important part: the exodus of players in the summer:

"It is obvious that we have an expensive wage bill and that not everyone will stay. We can also not invest in players every year the same amount as we did last summer."
