Thursday, April 24 2008 -- The British tabloid The Sun has splashed a sensational transfer rumour linking Liverpool with the Atletico Madrid skipper Maxi Rodriguez.
Maxi has been one of the best players for Atletico Madrid since he joined them from Espanyol Barcelona in the summer of 2005 and his versatality and captain's role this season have been a boon for the Spanish club.
And that has of course attracted attention of Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, if The Sun is to be believed. The British tabloid speculates that the Reds are eager to spend big money in order to lure the player away from the Vicente Calderon and to Anfield.
But Maxi has persistently insisted that he is happy at Atletico and last week he went as far as to say that he would play on at Atletico until the end of his playing career. Doesn't this reveal his love and loyalty for the club?
