For the better fraction of the last couple of months, everyone in Italy and especially in Rome, have been contemplating about American investors encapsulating AS Roma in the summer. Roma's parent company Italpetroli are in a debt of over 370 million euro and it's reported that the Amercian billionaire George Soros is about to takeover the Roman giants.
Roma captain and icon Francesco Totti though refuses to be drawn into any discussion about foreign ownership of Roma and cryptically said when asked about his opinions on the matter:
"Everyone here's speaking about the Americans. I only speak Roman."
The Roma supporters have voiced their resentment at the prospective foreign ownership of the club and the general feeling in Italy about foreign investors is that these billionaires are essentially businessmen who want to cash in on the travelling football circus.
