Friday, January 30, 2009 -- There are about 3 weeks left for the trading deadline in the NBA. There is a buzz that Bryan Colangelo, the Toronto Raptors General Manager, is the most aggressive of the league GMs in trying to make a deal.
Colangelo expects that his team should rank amongst the first four in the Eastern Conference. The stark reality is that the team has a record of 19-38 and ranks amongst the bottom 3 teams in the East. Colangelo accepted that as the team has not been performing well in this season, he is trying to do something about it. If required, he would make a certain move or twist the current roster so that the team is placed in a better position to win. Despite the not so good performance, the Raptors are in need of two wins for a playoff spot. The team has recently won three consecutive games and on 30th January 2009, they are a host to the Bucks, who hold the 8th rank.

Causes of failure
Although Colangelo had admitted that the team has put up a disappointing performance, he does not blame anyone. He reasons that injuries of players are responsible for the current plight. Jermaine O’Neal had a bone bruise in his knee. So, he could not participate in 14 games, out of which 11 were played in the previous 4 weeks. Jose Calderon, the point guard, had a strained right hamstring due to which he was away for 10 games.Rate this article
