Deco Outlines Champions League Importance

Tuesday, April 22 2008 -- FC Barcelona midfielder Deco is quite frank and honest as well as accurate when he reveals that their season so far has been a bed of failures but the Portuguese international midfielder does bleed in rays of hope and optimism when he underlines the two-legged UEFA Champions League semi-final tie with Manchester United as something that could rescue their season.

Deco was speaking in a press conference on Monday and told the reporters:

"It is evident that we are not happy, but we must continue to play on. We have failed so far, but the season is not yet finished. It is not necessary to make it big news. When a team doesn't win things [talk of reinforcements] is normal.

"But now is not the time to speak of transfers. The whole season has been filled with such talk and it is getting a little old."

Indeed if Barcelona do fail to progress to the final of the Champions League, then their season will be stamped as essentially a failure. Last season Barca ended up with no major trophy and if they end up barren-handed once again this time, then Catalunya will simply fall apart!
