Tuesday, April 22 2008 -- FC Barcelona have ultimately stated their asking price for their star midfielder Ronaldinho and the sum is not something that every Tom, Dick and Harry can dig out of his piggy bank. The Catalans say that they wouldn't take less than 35 million pounds for Ronaldinho!
That's some price! Of course given Ronnie's track record, that sum doesn't sound underserving but when you consider that Ronaldinho has been much under par for the entire of this season and that he is speculated to have lost it for good, you do get the feeling that Barca are a bit unjustified in demanding 35 million pounds for the player whom they no longer want or need.
AC Milan too must feel that way. The Rossoneri have been touted as the most likely destination for the 28-year old Brazilian sorcerer in the summer but they are prepared to pay only 20 million euros. Ronaldinho's brother Roberto de Assiss has been quoted as saying that the player himself has agreed personal terms with Milan but Barca seem to have poked a spanner in the wheels with this asking rate.
Not that we have heard the end of the tune. De Assiss is apparently bent on forcing Barcelona to sell Ronnie to Milan and at the end of the day, he would just be able to.
